The music of Smokey DeVille can be described as experimental Industrial heavily influenced by the sound of the mid-late 80's industrial scene, with symphonic and choral undertones. His music is very melodic, while his voice shatters the clam with a driving force. His debut four song EP, "Precursor", is available exclusively through Stabracadabra Productions.
The opening track, the aptly titled instrumental "Unnerving Tranquility", craftily sets the tone of an album designed to shake the foundations of the status quo and challenge the very fundamentals of existence. As a member of the infamous Church of Satan, many of DeVille's lyrics echo Satanic philosophy, and the misanthropic "Dissident" is no exception. "Precursor " finishes off with "Strength Through Joy", a bizarre instrumental that leaves the listener apprehensively awaiting DeVille's next album, which is due in Summer 2006, again exclusively via Stabracadabra.
Precursor is currently out-of-print.
