My work can
be described as an examination of life and it's myriad joys, sorrows,
and mysteries, and there is a bit of a gallery of my artistic creations
in my photo section. I am absolutely in love with being alive, and I
believe my artwork is a reflection of that.
I am a Warlock in the Church of Satan. I
discovered that I am a Satanist in 1992 after reading The Satanic Bible.
As Satanism champions life itself, in this regard I would say that there
are definite Satanic undertones in my artwork, subtle as they may be at
times. |

While Smokey
DeVille prefers oil paints for “the freedom to be
inspired enough to go back through and re-work the
paint, something that you don’t get with acrylics”, he
also explores works in water color, and uses digital
creations as well as 3-dimensional multimedia formats to
express his sometimes controversial creative side.
"I've always known I think
differently than those around me" states DeVille. His
visual artwork is a magnificent representation of his
own abstract thought and its lack of a strict
evolutionary direction, this is art as the artist sees
it. From the subtle pastel watercolors, which leave
much to the wonderers mind, to abrasive psychological
imagery that leaves you questioning the sanity of the
artist. It isn’t difficult in fact to forget that one
artist actually created all of these dynamic and diverse
representations.
With digital media, Smokey
explores the more industrial and technical side of his
artistic journey, bright designs that need a legend to
truly decipher all the pieces--and flashy images that
quicken the heart, capturing movement and strong
emotion.
If you've visited Chicago, in
the last ten years, Smokey may have pierced you,
breathed fire for you at an upscale event or maybe you
have even heard his music playing in a club or at an
event. Nevertheless, those who haven’t yet discovered
Mr. Deville, are certainly bound to do so soon.
